How to Remove Hair From Carpet

How to Remove Hair from Carpet

If you live in a home with pets or family members that have long hair, you might have noticed that your carpets can get full of hair that your vacuum just won't pick up. In fact, this hair can actually clog your vacuum cleaner and make cleaning your carpets impossible. There are ways, however, to remove the hair from your carpet once and for all.

How to Remove Long Hair from Carpet?

When it comes to carpet cleaning, removing long hair can seem difficult at first, but it doesn't have to be. In fact, there are many ways you can remove hair. The first step is getting the hair into clumps or balls. One way to do so is to use dishwashing gloves. Once you have them on, move your hands on the carpet in a circular motion. You can then pick up the hair as it comes out of the carpet.

Carpet Maintenance Tips

Another way is to use a carpet rake. A carpet rake works just like a rake you would use outside of your home on leaves. This works best for longer hair. If you need to remove short pet hair, you can use one of your brush attachments on your vacuum. You'll need to run the brush attachment over the carpet in circles to bring up the hair.

Finally, wetting the carpet, just so it is damp, and then using a hairbrush on it will cause the hair to ball up. These balls of hair can then be picked up.

Once the clumps of hair are gone, go ahead and vacuum your carpet. This will pick up any stray hairs left from the brushing. Cleaning carpet can be a chore but it is important as your carpet is a large part of your home, and keeping it clean goes a long way towards making your house a place you are happy to call home.

The downside is that all of these processes can take a great deal of time. If you give one of them a try and decide that carpet cleaning isn't for you, go ahead and call a professional. Cleaning carpet  is often best left to a professional that has the training, experience, and tools to get the job done quickly.
